Costa Rica 2022 - Taking in the beauty

Onto the next adventures! We headed into the town of Fortuna to go to the Borgain trail to see some sloths and we were successful! They really do move slowly, really do look like they are smiling but also hang out really high in the trees so it was hard to take pics. We also saw some cool frogs and a couple of iguanas.

This is a photo of ants carrying leaves. We saw these everywhere! They reminded us of the ants from bugs life just carrying food in a line - it was fascinating to watch!

The we headed over to the Fortuna waterfall hike where we climbed down 500 steps to see the waterfall

A view from the top - spectacular!

I've never seen a waterfall so big and strong before

I couldn't believe you were allowed to swim in it! It looks cold and dangerous but YOLO!

The dare devil of the family naturally went first

Then the boys!

The pool was 60 feet deep and the currents were STRONG so he sat that one out

I did it!

Then you can walk around to the other side where there was a pond and creek - it was beautiful. One of my favorite spots.

There were fish everywhere. Owen tried for 30 minutes to catch one.

Going back up was MUCH harder!

Then we went back at just chilled at the hotel

It was so cool at night!

We ate the buffet a few nights for dinner and the free buffet breakfast every morning. The kids were in heaven - getting to eat whatever they wanted! It really was a perfect spot.

About those water slides... They were built out of cement and went crazy fast. We'd just sit and watch people fly out of them into the water. Owen would fly 10 feet before entering the pool, I swear. I finally decided to go down them I mean - YOLO! The first went straight down so fast water hit me in the face the whole time and I got the worst weggie of my life. The second was completely dark with a weird turn that flipped you upside down - I came out to fast completely discombobulated. Ha! Lots of videos of the slides too.
