Costa Rica 2022 - Heading to the coast!

Our time in Arenal came to an end but we were excited to head to the beach! It rained for a while as we drove out of the mountain area. We were so lucky with the weather, it always missed us! It was a 2.5-hour drive that was full of adventures and laughs, some of which I can share to not embarrass anyone, but we will always remember the side of the road.... We also encountered some of the CRAZIEST roads we've even been on. Big kudos to Josh for driving the whole trip! But boy was it worth it to get to the coast and our house for the next 5 nights!

On the road again!

Yep - that is a full river we drove through. There were two of them! Naturally, the commentary captured on video was hilarious

We made it to the beach just in time for lunch :)

I know we live in San Diego but we ALWAYS appreciate the beach and the beaches in Costa Rica were gorgeous! The sky was so blue and the clouds were always so dramatic.

I cannot tell you how many pictures I took of the beach, sky and clouds

Our home for the next 5 days - wahoo!!!

My favorite part - the outdoor shower! I showered out here every day :)

We know how to pick 'em

We were welcomed with the most spectacular sunset!

Heading to the beach!

The clouds!

We got sprinkled on for a few minutes and it was the best

Can you tell I was obsessed with the clouds?!

Living his best life

We collected pounds of shells

Every morning we drove a few minutes to a little restaurant called Pots and Bowls. We LOVED it! They served Acai bowls and other healthy bowls and had tons of pots of succulents for sale. It was mellow with great music, I could've hung out there all day.

We stayed in Playa Grande which is a sleepy little surf town. I could live there forever. We stopped in a few surf shops and were greeted by MONKEYS! My heart was so full.

a show every night! On this particular night some howler monkeys were in the trees in front of our house. They were big and loud! And make the exact sound you'd think they would.

We drove into Tamarindo one day to go shopping. It was BUSY so not exactly our jam so we drove to Playa Conchal via a BUMPY road! I loved them, but I didn't have to drive ;)

But it was SUPER quiet, you basically had to hike in

Drove home to be greeted by this.

It isn't a true vacation if we don't finish a puzzle!

One day we headed up to Playa Flamingo. It was 25 minutes away and had some hotels and restaurants.

Melt my heart

We called them the beach whales. They'd just lay at the shore and let the waves roll over them.

I think this was smoothie #15. Emmy successfully drank 20.

We headed back to Playa Grande for sunset

Wait for it...

It keeps getting better...

And better...

And BETTER!

It was just the BEST.

Our other favorite restaurant was coincidentally right next door to Pots and Bowls - El Huerto! They had the best thin wood fire pizzas and cheap wine. We also ate there every night and had the same server each time!
