On our first day in Toronto Ryan accidentally ran into a metal corner in a restaurant. It was a freak accident, but he cried in pain for a long time. We all took a look, and it appeared to be a surface wound, so we gave him some ice and Advil and told him to suck it up (I mean it was our first day on vacation!). He had trouble sleeping that week but otherwise didn't really complain. After our trip he went to flag football camp, which he did not enjoy because it was hot and there were a lot of little kids so when he called me on day 2 complaining about his shoulder, I picked him up and asked if it was really his shoulder or did he not like the camp? He honestly, told me both. We continued to go about our weeks as it nothing happened until he complained again, so I made a doctor's appointment. Then he showed me a bump on his bone and I took him to the urgent ortho clinic to find out - he BROKE his collar bone! I have never felt like such a TERRIBLE mom. He was such a tough dude! The good news is, that he is 4 weeks into the healing process so only has 3-4 weeks until he can get back into sports! But I am sure this is one of those things I will never hear the end of, especially from my middle child. I raced Emmy to the ER both times she broke bones and it took me a month to take Ryan. Poor kid was robbed of any attention and doting, so I let him milk it will the sling for a few days and at least gave him a big recognition on the blog ;)
