After last year's amazing trip to Costa Rica, we thought we should keep up the traveling tradition and venture to a new coast and beach! We found a super cool town in Mexico just south of Cancun, Playa Del Carmen and found a house in a gated community just outside of town. We could not wait to go and the trip did not disappoint! We all love traveling and hanging at the beach, it was another perfect vacation and way to spend the holiday together :)
We flew out of the Tijuana Airport, which could not have been easier! I highly recommend it, it was a nicer, larger airport than San Diego. After a few minor hiccups getting there and finding parking, it was a quick check-in and walk across the border. The flight was easy, and the weather was fantastic! Lots a pictures to come and a special thank you to Mom and dad for staying with Sadie while we were gone!
The bridge over the border. Owen graduated from his dinosaur suitcase to a big one!
View from our deck - it was incredible!
Ahhh, vacation
The water was the brightest turquoise I had every seen, it looked like it was glowing when the sun shined!
The kids went snorkeling out front every day. Emmy would be out there for HOURS! The investment into legit snorkel masks was totally worth it.
Breakfast with a view :)
This is the life
We took this walk every night to dinner. It was so quiet and peaceful
There were eve Maya Ruins along the way!
5th avenue was full of restaurants and shops. It was miles long!
There was a town square with lots of different and super cool performers
I caught the sunrise one morning from our bedroom window
Owie ready to find some fish!
Our favorite restaurant - we ate there 3 nights in a row!
It is strange not seeing the sun set into the ocean but it was still beautiful
Smiles all around!
It wouldn't be a Lawrence vacation without at least one adventure! We headed to a Cenote, which are underground cave that filled with water. They are all over this part of Mexico.
We rolled up to the first pool that looked like a dirty lake. Josh was not impressed. Haha
There was a tour guide/photographer who followed us around telling us to "stay cool" and make the peace sign
The look on Josh's face...!
Is almost as good as the one on mine. The kids could not stop laughing at this, I don't think I will ever live this one down!
Me looking for fish cold and miserable. Emmy saw a lot including a turtle and got some great videos so she thought it was awesome!
Next up was a pool in a cave. We walked with the guide, he took more pics and they said bye have fun! And we were left alone in this dark crevice to fend for ourselves. We seriously couldn't stop laughing
The last pool you couldn't go in but it was lit with candles, it was really pretty.
All in all, it was a cool experience and we had fun but checked Cenote off the list once and for all. Ha!
Our house even had a pool it was amazing!
We headed to Tulum one day.
The bartender was shocked when Emmy ordered a virgin drink, he thought she was 18!
We hung out at the beach and ate at a cool restaurant we found. Everything was right on the sand.
Everyone was getting really creative with the zinc. Sun protection is serious! That was our joke the whole trip :)
We walked over to the other side of the community we were staying in. The other side had more hotels and activities
The kids went parasailing all together! They threw us on the back of jet skis to get out to the boat and then the kids were off!
No filter on that water!
The clouds made it look so cool
Owen's buddy he made at our favorite restaurant.
Cheers!
Pondering life on a swing at the bar
We all found huge shells in the ocean and there was a creature living in the one I found! We tried to get it out but ended up throwing him back into the water
Happy Thanksgiving!
Josh showing off the bracelet he was scammed for. Another joke of the whole trip. This one is going to be framed!
Until next year.... Seriously, we already booked it again for next Thanksgiving. Wahoo!!!
