Last weekend was a crazy busy but super fun weekend full of sports! Josh headed out of town for work last week and then was able to make a trip out of it and go and see his mom. They had a great time together in Yosemite. So I was in SD holding down the fort.
Thursday the kids were off of school for Veteran's Day so they had some friends over. There were a total of 7 of them and I don't think the trampoline has gotten that much use in months! I scrambled around Friday getting the kids out the door early for a presentation I had to give, fortunately before Owen came home from school sick and I grabbed some food from the store to prepare for the weekend ahead....
Saturday morning started at 9a with Owen's last soccer game. He scored 2 goals, one with his left foot! The little man aggressively ran around the field like a boss! He was very excited to get his first trophy :)
At 10:30a Ryan had his last lacrosse scrimmage. Since he was leaving early to head to a baseball game he was lacrosse on top and baseball on the bottom. Ha!
We raced over to the field for his 11:30a playoff game for baseball. His team hadn't won a game all season and only had 8 players so we have pretty low expectations for him moving on. But holy shit - they actually won!
Go Ryan!
We threw all out shit back in the back of the car and headed over to Emmy's playoff softball game. Her team has been winning almost every game so we had high expectations that they'd win. Well, it ended up being a SUPER close game and Emmy stole home to win the game!!
We made it home around 5p - put in 8 hours that day!
Sunday we headed out around 9a to get Emmy to her softball game. She played an unbelievable team, their pitching was the best any of us had ever seen. They ended up battling but lost 8-10 after Emmy had an amazing catch at Second! She left with Riley and we headed over to Ryan's semi-final game.
Again, Ryan's team wasn't expected to win the last game so certainly wasn't expected to come close to beating the undefeated team. Well, holy shit, his little scrappy team of 8 won, AGAIN! I know I am his mom and this is a bold statement but Ryan stole the show that game. Not only did he git two triples to score 6 of the runs, he came in as closing pitcher to keep the lead and win! Every person at the field was standing at the fence screaming as the bases were loaded and the only team was only down one run. I am still beaming with pride. Watching that kid keep his cool and pitch like a rockstar was unbelievable :)
Josh took an uber straight from the airport to catch the last game, which they lost but man what a day!
We made it home at 5p again so that was two 8 hour days of games. Well, that was a wrap to the end of a great Fall season of sports. Now onto one more baseball tournament, basketball and gymnastics!
Last weekend was another jam packed weekend of sports and activities! Saturday started off with a very early morning scrimmage for Ryan followed by an early soccer game for Owen. Owen went from tears at the beginning of the season to the first one on the field! This weekend he got the sportsmanship award for being a good teammate and passing the ball. He was so proud he wore it all weekend! I dragged Emmy out of bed so she at least watched one of his games so she was able to see as well.
The park where he plays must be some sort of police break head quarters because there are always a lot of police cars and they are always in the way. Josh said he thinks they are watching videos on how to catch a criminal and Ryan thinks they are part time Amazon prime delivery people. Ha! Saturday one was parked right behind me, so close I couldn't even open the trunk. Naturally Owen said hi showed the guy (who couldn't have been a day over 25) his metal and was then invited to hop in the front seat and told "just don't touch anything" Oh Owen - everyone loves you kid!
Ryan was asked to play in a special Thanksgiving tournament so had practice again that afternoon and then another game!
Owen's babies have popped up again and come with us EVERYWHERE. I mean stroller and car seat and all. i have to admit he takes really good care of these babies!
Unfortunately, no pics of Emmy at her game because Ryan's was at the same time and I was flying solo. Not only did Josh go up to LA for a football game - he took a party bus up there! Kids thought it was pretty cool to explore. Ryan wasn't overly impressed - he said the one for Zach's bday party was bigger. Ha!
Halloween this year felt a bit anticlimactic. Maybe because October FLEW by or because Owen didn't even want to buy a new costume or because it was the first year Emmy did not trick or treat with us (sniff, sniff). But we still pulled it together for the Brubaker's annual party and of course to get some candy!

Emily and Owen
Emmy and Audrey
Michelle and John usually have a huge party but instead they did a haunted trail and did not disappoint! Kids were terrified. Haha
I am going to try and get back into my routine of updating the blog! Weekends are usually packed full of sports and parties! Ryan and Emmy both went to the UC High football game a few Friday nights ago (separately of course) Emmy went with her friends and Ryan went with Greyson and his buddies. It was a late but fun night! Saturday morning was gloomy so we skipped soccer and lacrosse and opted to be last - it was amazing. Ryan had baseball practice in the afternoon and Emmy had a 13th bday party at the bay so I took advantage of the 4 hours I had to kill down at the beach and took Owen to Sea World :)
A night hanging with #3 and the fury child
A little field trip for Sadie. I am trying to get her out of the house more - I think we are both bored. Haha
Ryan's nightly fantasy football planning session.
More baseball!
She actually let me take a picture before her game :)
Ryan loves this field because they have underground dugouts
And because its where he hit his first GRAND SLAM!
Erin Conklin turned 40 so had a huge family party at the park!
Emmy and all her buddies
Looking handsome for picture day :)
Poor Josh - I kicked him out of his office so he moved out here and the boys love to sit at his desk and color and Owen pretends like he is working
Because earlier in the day he was my sidekick during all my zoom meetings
Nana and Papa made a quick trip down a few weekends ago
Owen started playing soccer! It was mixed reviews at first but now he runs up and down the backyard practicing every night
Another birthday party! A foam Party that is. Seriously between the water pong and foam party, what's he going to get excited about when he's in college?
