Week #2

What is the saying? No rest for the weary? Ain't that the truth! I jumped right back into "life" with drop offs and pick ups, what feels like a million doctors appointments (check-ups, cardiology appointments and circumcision - ugh), gymnastics, walking Sadie, cooking dinner, etc. Julie came for a visit last week which was awesome! Not sure the last time just the two of us hung out and she was a huge help. Owen has been partying all night and sleeping all day and it is finally starting to hit me. Emmy has minimum days all week and spring break next week so we've loaded up on crafts and things to do. She has been such an amazing help, Ryan too! I am one lucky mama :)

Emmy loves showing Owen off at school and insists on pushing the stroller

Acai  bowls for lunch!

His eyes are BLACK just like mine :)

Auntie Julie!

Poor Sadie is the family member that is the most bent out of shape with Owen's arrival...

A little homework help

First bath came with mixed reviews primarily because the tub was oddly uncomfortable?

this kid LOVES to be swaddled with his hands sticking out.

We've been playing the head bands game. A lot.

A video only I probably find cute and interesting :)

Trying the wrap carrier. Man is it complicated to get on and off!!!

We took a family trip to petco and michaels. Even Sadie came along! The car felt PACKED!

Our new dinner set-up :)

We have been painting up a storm!

Emmy is OBSESSED with gymnastics. She practices all the time. She is currently working on her front hand spring. Pretty impressive!

Welcome Home Owen!

Wednesday was a big day for us, we brought Owen home and introduced him to his big sis, big brother and crazy dogie.

Sadie girl has been curious but really good. She keeps trying to kiss him and gets upset when he cries. We've been trying to give her lots of love but you can tell she is a little depressed.

Proud big sis :)

Proud big bro :)

Love <3 br="">

Ryan's new favorite thing to do after school - snuggle with brother and watch Paw Patrol

The first few days they fought over who got to hold him. Now they fight over who pushes him in the stroller.

Sadie is never far from me.

I just can't stop taking pictures of him!

Yesterday we pulled out the slip and slide and had a few people from the hood come over. I sat our front with Owen and Sadie. We are going to have a fun summer!!

Now that it isn't getting dark until later we can take our after dinner walks around the hood again. This time as a family of FIVE! :)

Josh had an early conference call and was headed to OC today so I was on my own. We all made it! I was wearing my PJs and hadn't brushed my teeth yet but no one was late ;)

Owen James Lawrence

Owen James joined our family on March 13, 2017 and we can not be more in love! I went into the hospital the night of March 12th to be induced the next morning. The doctors have been tracking a mild heart issue so wanted me to deliver during the day so the team could be ready, he was going to be taken to the cardiac ICU after he was born.

The induction went quick, no pitocin was needed. By 4:30a the contractions were getting pretty strong. 7:30a I got my epidural (thank God!) 7:45a my water broke and 8:30a I started pushing. After his heart rate started dropping we knew he had to come out quick. The doctor quickly realized he was sunny side up (just like his sister was) so with some help from the vacuum, some chanting from the 10 people in the room, he was born at 9:09am weighing 8 lbs and 21 inches long. He came out screaming and looking great so to much to m surprise I got to hold him and for a whole 30 minutes before he went to the ICU with Josh :) It was perfect.

I spent the rest of the day (impatiently) recovering and waiting for updates from Josh. After many tests the doctors thought he would be okay to transfer to the NICU. After months of appointments with the cardiologist who prepared us for a number of scenarios, this news could not have been better! I got to nurse him in the NICU (which was not easy every 2 hours in the night when I could barely walk) which was exactly what I wanted to do. Only bummer was the kids could not go into the NICU so they came to eat dinner with me every night but had to wait to meet him.

Final night - he was transferred up to my room. Wahoo! And after a rough night in the hospital (due to a nurse that doesn't need mentioning) we came home on Wednesday.

Now a whole lot of pictures...

Sunday afternoon

Leaving for the hospital. Here we go!!

Introducing Owen James

All hooked up

Thankfully Josh was able to stay with him

Back at the NICU

The kiddos :)

Nana was ecstatic to meet Owen. We weren't sure if she was going to be able to meet him either!

What?! I get to go home?!
