Last weekend

This post is over a week late. Better late than never!

Last weekend we met some friends from work at the bay. Lucky for us they all had paddle boards, kayaks, etc., that we were able to play with!  First time we touch our toes into that disgusting water. Thank goodness no one grew a 6th toe.

To my surprise, Ryan even cruised out on a board. He fell in at one point (he hates getting his face wet) freaked out but survived. Emmy loved it, no surprise there.  She buddied up with my friend Reyna’s son and they were trouble.  It was so much!

It happened to also be the hottest weekend we’ve had so far this summer. Why not run another ½ marathon! Ugh. It was so miserably hot making for a very brutal 13 miles. I headed out the door at 4:45a to catch the bus to the start line. After waiting an hour at the start line we finally started running at 7a right when the sun started shining. It was downhill from there. I crossed the finish line 2 hours and 24 minutes later, soaking wet from sweat and the water I kept dumping on my head. I met Josh and the kids and swore I would never run another one again. Then yesterday I tackled 6.5 miles and already have the itch to do another :)

Ryan's birthday week

Sticking with tradition, I took Tuesday off of work so I could hang with my birthday boy. It is so nice to have a day off during the week to hang and not rush anywhere. We went to the zoo, just the two of us and had so much fun!

Last night we went to the Chargers pre-season game with the kids. It was late and they were tired but it was fun to experience a football game, while they are still in town :)

Coming from a family who is terrified of snakes, I had to post this picture.

His new obsession - the skyfari ride!

Biggest birthday surprise - a new big boy bike!

A little tailgating before the game. Josh packed a cooler with 12 beers. Think he forgot he wasn't hanging for hours with his buddies!

Three years old!!

My little dude in 3! I can’t believe it! It seems like yesterday I was absolutely huge, sweltering in our house in August, watching hours of Olympics coverage, debating with Josh how fast he could run 50 meters. And then my little dude came into the world, screaming with a full head of blond hair, at 4:37 am. And I’ve been in love with him ever since.

He is the sweetest little guy. Gentle, sweet, caring, sensitive and funny. He is the opposite of Emmy and just like me – careful and cautious. He loves animals, is fascinated by trucks, adores his sister and after watching him at school, I know he is going to be a really good friend. He is full of animation, is easily pleased, a big do-it-myself helper, is as athletic as they come and would snuggle all day if he could. He stumbles in our room around 2am every night, wearing his little lightening mcqueen undies. Without saying a thing, I arrange his pillow, he climbs into bed, snuggles right into my chest and falls asleep almost immediately. This is my favorite time of the day/night and I wish I could just freeze time. Happy birthday buddy barooski-rama.

This week

Another busy summer week!  Emmy had been having a blast a summer camp. She's been to Sea World camp, ice skating, art camp at the zoo and she just finished up gymnastics camp! She was doing 4-5 hours of gymnastics a day. Training for the Olympics I guess?  She needed a break this week so I stayed home with her and we were lazy and spent some time at the library. Josh left yesterday for a quick trip to Mammoth for work so they 3 of us have been hanging.

The central library downtown is so cool!

Apparently 4 hours of gymnastics was not enough

We've been building lots of forts this weekend.

My main dude.

Boogie boarding extraordinaire!

Ryan has decided to skip boogie boarding altogether and just learn to surf

The guy who drives the ice cream truck that parks next to the beach on the weekends must be making a killing!

Both of them love hanging in undies these days. I guess Emmy's are the best?
