School is fun!

It took Emmy sometime to really feel comfortable at her new school but she is having so much fun now. A great way to end the year!  Her school had a fiesta de mayo festival last week and every grade performed.  We heard about her dance for weeks so was so excited.  It had to be the cutest performance I've ever seen!  She was also the super star student this week. Each student is recognized during the school assembly.  She was pretty excited.  Great few weeks :)

Memorial Day Surprise

We needed a little break from the day-to-day crazy so decided to head up to my parent's house this weekend.  We had a very fun surprise - Uncle Marc!  And to make the weekend even better, we had the pleasure of meeting the kind and wonderful Kristen who fit right into our typical weekend of eating, drinking, chatting, answering many questions and getting crazy with the kids.

Marc and Kristen took a nap while Emmy was... herself!

Bestest buds

It isn't a summer night at nana and papas without smores! (And sponge bob since Papa is the only person who will let her watch it)

How can you not want to jump in bed with them?!

It took a few days but by Monday, Ryan was all over the pool!  I am pretty sure he was just waiting for the water to warm up :)

It took about 4.5 minutes for them to fall asleep in the car!

Mothers Day Weekend

We started the weekend off with a special night for Ryan.  Emmy went to a friend's birthday party so Ryan had us all to himself!  He was happy for some extra attention but her definitely asked for Emmy a few times ;)

It was 57 degrees out which is pretty much as cold as it gets for us! Great night to pull out the winter jackets for a walk.

Ryan is a race car driver.  Literally!  A little tumble after which he yelled "I am okay. I crashed!"

Meanwhile, Emmy was climbing a 30 foot climbing wall!

The rest of the weekend we just hung out.  Emmy made me a sugar scrub at school for Mother's Day so she gave me a pedicure.  We hiked, played tennis, ate, drank.  Last night I was exhausted!

We were a little more prepared for our next race :)

I am a very lucky girl to be a mommy to two amazing little people who I love more than anything in the whole entire world :)

Emmy and Ryan

Emmy and Ryan are the bestest of friends right now.  I just keep watching them, my heart melting, telling Josh I hope they are always this close. They are protective of each other in their own way, love to snuggle. They are either climbing into our bed in the morning or Ryan climbs in to Emmy’s to snuggle. They’ve starting playing with each other more too!  The ride bikes and scooters, play on the swings out back and the other day Emmy tried to teach him to play UNO.

A few conversations recently I just have to document. I would have recorded them if I could.

(We got Ryan a pretty terrible haircut last weekend.  We we going for something a little less mushroom but ended up with an odd looking mohawk! After much conversation about what to do about Ryan’s hair Emmy and Ryan were on the swings out back while I folded laundry inside.
Emmy: Buddy your hair looks really cool
Ryan: Does it look silly?
Emmy: No. You look really handsome. Do you know what handsome means?
Ryan: No
Emmy: You look really nice.

Emmy twists herself up in the swings all the time and sometimes gets stuck
Emmy: Help!
Ryan: I am coming!
Ryan: There I saved you. Now don’t do it again

Josh and I toured a preschool that is closer to our house.  We still drive into PB every day and my office may be moving north which will make that drive ever worse.  So we thought we’d check out some other places but so far no please is ever comparable to Baldwin!
Me: Emmy Daddy and I looked at a new school for Ryan and man it was nowhere near as cool as Baldwin
Emmy: Mom! Why would you do that?
Me: To find something close so we don’t have to drive all the way to PB
Emmy: (with attitude) it isn’t that far!  Plus, Ryan has a new girlfriend Tahlia, why would you make him leave his girlfriend!

We picked up Subway on the weekend and ended up eating it there.  Subway in Clairemont makes for some great people watching.  A large lady walked in wearing a moo-moo/house dress that was big and colorful!
Ryan: Mommy, look at her dress it is BEAUTIFUL!

I wish I could remember all of the things these two are up to these days.  They are growing up so fast, I just wish I could freeze time!

Officially Potty Trained!

Ryan is officially potty trained! It was relatively easy considering how excited he has been to buy and wear new underwear.  His teachers at school told me that it was getting difficult to change his diaper so I just dropped him of fin undies one day and he’s worn them ever since.  I think he is about the exact same age that Emmy was.  So far he has been right on par with Emmy despite the whole “boys do things later than girls” rumor.  Except for the sleeping thing of course!

Wearing undies to school!

I took him shopping for more at the end of the day. I've never seen a kid so excited about undies.  He tried them all on :)
