Our Little Monster

Everyone told me having a boy was going to be a much different experience than having a girl and boy were they right!  For as much as Emmy loved to just sit when she was a baby, Ryan loves to be on the move!  He is so much fun right now.  Super chatty, laughs all the time and gets into everything!  He watches bigger kids walk and play and you can just see it in his eyes, he wants to jump out of my arms and go.  Well, he pretty much is jumping out of my arms all the time.  I love to see how motivated he is :)  He is so damn cute right now, I can't get enough of him!

He is no dummy, Ryan knows where to find the cheerios!

His favorite place to hang out is under the coffee table...

Wow, I can chew on it too!

It doesn't get much better than this.  Hanging out under the coffee table with the remote.

He LOVES the kitchen and chewing on all the plastic veggies

As of this week he is officially crawling.

This is one of his new faces.  He makes it every time he gets excited which is pretty much all the time.  It is the funniest face ever!

What nap?!

As you could see above, the coffee table was an issue so we moved it.  This is pretty much how our family room looks all the time. A disaster!

Beach Day!

I can't believe Ryan is 8 months old and today was his first trip to the beach!  Well, at least down to the sand.  It has been way too long since we've had a beach day, it was much needed.  Emmy of course was in heaven, in her element, she just loves the beach.  Ryan was so good, kind of just taking it all in.  I expected him to eat way more sand than he did :)  of course I had to document the day with a ton of pictures.

Emmy's sand angel :)

Baldwin Open House

Things have been so busy, I have not been doing a good job keeping this up to date!  Last Wednesday was Baldwin Academy's Open House which is always quite a production.  Unfortunately, Josh had to work but Emmy, Ryan and I stuck it out for the long hall.  I picked them up after work, headed over to a restaurant near by to meet up with some of her buddies for dinner and then stayed for all the performances.  It was fun, we were exhausted!

 Big nest Performance!

Ryan couldn't quite make it.

A little ice cream to hype them up before we go home....

Funny Girl

Emmy is a pretty funny kid.  She is not shy, speaks her mind and in my opinion is quite mature.  She just moved up to the “Big Nest” the four year old program at school.  The last before kindergarten.  And she loves it!  She is totally in her element, hanging with her friends and learning a ton.  She really loves learning.  She plays school at home all the time and is of course always the teacher.  The things that come out of her mouth continue to crack me up so I try and document it so I can remind her one day.

She was playing teacher this week and told me and Ryan to “hurry up and sit in the circle we are tight on time.”  Then she yelled and Ryan “Baroo pay attention!”.

The other day when I was sick with the flu and stuck at home I took them for a short walk to get out of the house.  I wasn’t moving too quickly.  She yelled back “Mama I know you can move faster than that.  Let’s go!”.

“Oh my God”.  She now says this all the time.  I have told her it isn’t polite.  She asked why?  I compared it to pointing at people.  You just don’t do it.

Her two favorite movies right now are an old school Mickey Mouse Christmas and Mary Poppins.  Probably the only kid in town singing Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, Chim Chimney and a spoon full of sugar.

“I am super duper, duper, duper, duper, duper, duper, duper, hungry”.  I actually paraphrased the number of “dupers”.

A few weeks ago, she woke up in the middle of the night a few times and said she was having “sleep stories” about alligators and crocodiles.  I have no idea where she got sleep stories from but am pretty sure the new cartoon “Jake and Neverland” she has been watching (which is basically Peter Pan) started the crocodile fear.  One night she was visibly upset so I told her they were afraid of forks.  I cringed thinking that sounded ridiculous but she was like huh, really?  She we set a big fork by the front door, one outside her room and next to her bed.   Left them out for a few days and now she is over it!

She loves to be surprised.  "Emmy what do you want to eat?".  "Surprise me!".  But she doesn't necessarily settle for the first snack you bring.  It is like the most annoying guessing game.  And yes, I do it every time like an idiot.

She is so strong!  A few weeks ago we were at the park and all of a sudden she starts swinging from monkey bar to monkey bar.  It was crazy!  I was able to take a little video :)

8 Months!

My handsome little dude is going to be 8 month tomorrow.  Crazy.  I just wish I could freeze time.  He is so much fun these days.  The happiest, funniest, cutest, chubbiest, little guy.  I am just so in love.  He is just as attached to me as I am to him.  He only wants to be held at the end of the day, which is fine by me because I miss him so much.  If I have to put him down he just arm crawls over to me saying "mama, mama" until I pick him up.  I love it :)

At 8 months Ryan:
- sleeps on his tummy, it is so damn cute
- LOVES his blanket.  I mean everyone comments on how attached he is to it already.  If you give it to him he squeals, hugs it super tight and does what I call his reverse laugh.  Ahhhhhh.
- Started by saying dada and now says mama constantly.  And I know he knows my name is mama.  When i picked him up from school today he started shouting it.  Melts my heart.
- Is still obsessed with paper.  He goes nuts over magazines.
- Goes crazy in the bath!  He loves water, even if the sink is on he just about jumps out of my arms.
- Started clapping his hands this week!  You can tell he is so proud of himself, it is so cute :)
- loves to eat.  He freaks out when his bowl is empty.  He has started eating cherrios and puffs and can't get enough.
- and me play catch.  I swear I am not lying.  I toss this one ball into him lap and then he whips it back to me.  We will toss it back and forth for 5 minutes (which is like an hour in baby time).
- likes to eat grass.  such a boy.
- Loves going for walks in the stroller.  He just chills out in there not making a peep.
- Does not like to sleep :(  Ugh.
- Is that most handsome little dude ever!

What a week

Our weeks are usually pretty crazy but last week was especially hectic.  Between various things going on at work and home, we had doctors appointments for both kiddos and Emmy, Ryan and I all got the stomach flu.  It was pretty miserable.  Emmy got it Wednesday night, Ryan Thursday and me Friday night.  And Josh had to work all day Saturday so I ain't going to lie Saturday was one of the most brutal days yet.  Having the flu and being alone with both kids made for a long day and night but we survived.  We made the best of all our sick days by pretty much making a disaster of our house.  But we had fun doing it :)

What is it with kids and water bottles?

Between flu cases, Emmy had her 4 year old check-up.  Weighing in a 36 pounds and 41.5" tall, she is tall and skinny!  She was so brave barely flinched when she got her 3 shots.  And she thought peeing in a cup was the finniest thing ever.  I thought I'd make the best of the big appointment and took the afternoon off work to hang with my little monkey.  We had a picnic lunch, played at the park then hit up the doctor and finished our day off with a trip to the ice cream store! It was so nice to spend the afternoon just the two of us.

Buddy Baroo, always getting himself into trouble these days!

Big sis showing him how to make a mess of the cupboard.  Good thing we have hundreds of dollars worth of toys laying around our house but they were the most entertained all weekend with some boxes of rice and noodles!

Clearly Ryan thinks Emmy is hilarious.

Long Weekend

One of the many benefits of working for UCSD is that I get random holidays like Cesar Chavez day off!  3 day weekends are the best, especially holiday weekends.  Friday I took Emmy and Ryan to the zoo (with every other family in San Diego...) Saturday my parents came down and Josh and I had our first date night since before Ryan was born (ridiculous I know) and Sunday we went to our annual brunch at the Catamaran!  We had beautiful weather all weekend and I enjoyed every minute I got to spend with the kiddos.  It was a great long weekend.

I don't typically take pictures of animals at the zoo but this turtle was pretty crazy!

Ryan just chilled out in the stroller the whole time :)

 Crazy little monkey

Date night!

Not a bad view from dinner.

Hanging with Papa

First chocolate egg of the day.  At 6:45am....

Check out that gut.  We had to unbutton his shirt!

I think he went through 3 rolls.  Every time we took one away he screamed!
