Emmy's favorite things right now are popsicles and coloring with her crayons. She is refusing to drink anything these days so we are definitely using the popsicles to get some liquid in her. A splash of apples juice in some water and she is occupied for an hour. Coloring has become a regular routine these days. She makes the motion of coloring and trots right over to the cupboard where we keep them. So far her coloring escapades have been all supervised and we hope it stays that way....

3 Day Weekends...
Are the Best! There is something about having an extra day on the weekend that makes it that much more enjoyable. Probably because it gives us an extra day to relax after grocery shopping, cleaning the house, doing laundry, etc. We are trying to figure out a way so I can have permanent 3 day weekends but we'll see. Will keep you posted on that....
Not only was it a holiday weekend but it was beautiful outside. Finally some sunny, warm weather! We took advantage and was outside the whole weekend. We went to the Bay, the Beach and Balboa Park.

Number 4
After a round of anti-biotics and week away from daycare, Emmy had another fever Tuesday night that lasted through yesterday. So, we took her for her fourth doctors appointment in the last month. We were there until 8pm, who knew doctors offices stayed open that late! We also saw the fourth new doctor, how big is her pediatricians group?! She still has fluid in her ear and swollen glands but no anti-biotics needed again. At least now anyway.... So needless to say, no swim lessons for a while :( Let's hope a long weekend will help any lingering cold so we can keep her healthy for a while!

15 months
I can't believe Emmy is already 15 months. I know I keep saying it but she has quite the personality. She loves to put her plastic jewelry on, wear all her different hats and today her tutu. She knows what she wants, when she wants it. She refused to drink water all day but chugged it through dinner, right before she went to bed. Great timing... She would not eat the chicken dinner I made her but could not get enough of our salmon, couscous and green beans. Yes, she LOVES salmon. She would not get out of the tub even after I pulled the plug and all the water was almost gone. She crouched in the corner, trying to stay out of arms reach. She is obsessed with putting her baby doll to bed. We heard "night night" ALL DAY LONG, as she put the blanket on her doll over and over. She is a little OCD about it. She has great balance and can stand on one leg. We taught her to kick it and say "Hi Ya", I swear she is going to be the next karade kid. I put her in bed last night and as I walked out she started saying "hi ya" over and over. Her new favorite toy is her puzzle, she can put the animals where they are supposed to go and make all the sounds. She has mastered the chicken and monkey. She is the smartest, cutest, funnest (yes, I know that is not a word), full of personality, funniest little girl in the world. Sunday nights are always a little tough for me because I know I have to leave her in the morning and tackle another crazy week :(

Ketchup
Tonight we gave Emmy her first taste of ketchup. I am not sure if she liked the idea of dipping her food into something or the actual taste of the ketchup, but she loved it! She was just licking it off her food. You could tell she felt like such a big girl dipping her food just like we were. So, now I am trying to think of ways to sneak in healthy dips!

Under the Weather
Yes, we have been sick, again... I know I should not be surprised. Everyone warned me that when you have a kid, especially one in daycare you will be sick. Emmy had a 103 degree fever so we took her to the doctor last weekend. Turns out she had another ear infection (guess those swim lessons were no such a good idea) and all the symptoms of pneumonia. So, we have been trying to nurse her back to health. My mom came down this week to help out so Emmy could stay home. I felt like crap too so having my mom get dinner ready was awesone :) My mom now has a little shadow, actually I should say my mom is her shadow because Emmy literally pulled my mom everywhere! She wanted my mom right next to her at all times. My poor mom must be exhausted!
I think Emmy would have tossed my mom in the basket if she could
Playing with Nannie's rollers, high maintenance already

Uncle Marc
My brother has been really busy with work but was able to squeeze in a trip to see his niece last week. The two of them had lots of fun together and I know Emmy can't wait for another visit with her Uncle Marc.
"Chilling" reading some books. This is probably the only few minutes she actually sat still while he was here. She kept him busy! He asked "does she ever just hang out?" and when I said np, he took a nap.
Marc got his work-out carrying Emmy around the house on her "magic carpet".
Big shoes to fill!

So you really want a dog?
Josh has been bugging me to get a dog for months. Believe me, I LOVE dogs and can't wait to get one, one day - when the time is right. Considering I spend most of my time at home chasing after Emmy who pulls everything out of every cupboard, puts pretty much anything in her mouth and literally throws her toys all over the house, I can't chase after a puppy doing the same thing. Don't even get me started about trying to get myself, Emmy and a dog ready in the morning before I leave for work. Or trying to work from home entertaining Emmy and a new puppy? Not to mention we are renters who signed a lease the said "no pets". When the time is right, we will get a dog, but not right now...
That leads me to my funny story. I usually let Emmy run around in her diaper before I put her jammies on and the other night she was pulling on the diaper wanting it off so I thought what the hell. I let her run a round naked saying "don't pee on the floor". So, what did she do? Squatted on the kitchen floor and peed. After almost slipping in it Josh ran over with a paper towel to clean it up. I just laughed and laughed at the image of him cleaning pee off the floor. You still want a dog right now huh? :)

Best Day of the Week
We pretty much live for the weekends these days so when it happens to be 75 degrees and sunny, it makes for an even better day!
This morning we headed down to the beach. The spot we go has both beach and grass which is pretty convenient. Despite that, I had the bright idea of taking her to play in the sand.....
Yum!
All clean and BEAUTIFUL!
Anne, Noah and Finn came over for dinner tonight. It is so cute to watch Emmy and Finn together these days because they are actually starting to pay attention to each other.
Getting into trouble

How cute are they in their jammies?!

Happy Mother's Day!
I am who I am today because of my mom. She taught me how to be a good person, a strong woman, a loving wife and most importantly a mom. The wonderful memories I have shape who I am today. If I can pass along just some of the lessons I have learned from my mom to Emery, she will be a very lucky girl. I love you mom, Happy Mother's Day!

Swim Lessons!
Today was Emmy's first swim lesson and she did great! The first half of the lesson she looked like she was trying to figure out what was going on but at the end she was having fun. She got to sing songs, play with toys, kick her legs and learn to move her arms. Next lesson or the one after that, she'll be going under :) It is amazing to me that I got in the water today with my DAUGHTER. In high school I taught swimming lessons to kids for years. Not with their parents, one on one. And the school I taught at, their method was a "throw 'em in" philosophy. I can't imagine sitting on the edge of the pool now and watching some high school kid let my kid go in the water. Yes, I taught these kids how to swim and quickly but I had no idea what I was putting those parents through until now. These lessons are nowhere near as intense but I think we are both going to have fun :)

Trouble...
Emmy's new pass time - trying on mama's shoes. She pulls them out of my closet and puts them on. Oh no, we are in trouble, another shoe lover.....
A Change of Scenery
We all needed a break and change of scenery so we headed up to my parent's house last weekend to celebrate my Dad's b-day and their anniversary. It was so nice to get out of town and be spoiled and taken care of :) Josh and I got to go play tennis and lay out in the sun. It was great. I think Emmy had the most fun playing with her Nannie and Papa who spoil her rotten! My mom sure has a way of getting her all hyped up! They have so much fun playing together it is quite a sight to watch. At one point I looked at my Dad and asked "was she like this when we were growing up?". He just smiled and nodded his head. My mom literally RAN around the neighborhood pulling her in her wagon, had her sliding down the banister and giggling every minute. Emmy pretty much has "papa" down now and is working on "nana". Her newest thing is pulling up her shirt to show her "belly button". I think all my parent's neighbors have seen her belly.
Earning her keep with her new lawn mower
Her new ride
Showing her belly to the whole restaurant. What a pig. Some busser must have been cursing us after we left....
You'd think my mom would have been the responsible one....
Helping Papa open his presents. Happy b-day Dad!
Bored on the drive home, looking for some bears in the cave
