Well, it’s official, I am now a working mom again. I tried
very hard not to count down or anticipate and to focus on the positives and not
the negatives because, well, its our reality and there isn’t much I can do
about it.
I was most nervous about taking Owen to a new daycare. And the fact
that he wasn’t taking a bottle or napping in a crib certainly didn’t help! I
was able to take him for a few hours a few days before my actual first day and
he drank a bottle and napped! The ladies were amazing, a group of them came up
with many creative ways to get him settled. He now snuggles with a shirt of
mine when he eats and sleeps :)
They send me pictures and updates and he really seems to be doing well, so far
anyway. Such a relief.
I had a pep talk with the kids the night before my first
day. Explained I was going to be working again so we all needed to work as a
team again. The next morning I headed up to get dressed and Emmy had laid out
outfit options for me – shoes, necklaces and all! She really is the best.
We certainly are going to have good days/week and bad ones but so far we are back to our well oiled machine!
