We survived

Well, it’s official, I am now a working mom again. I tried very hard not to count down or anticipate and to focus on the positives and not the negatives because, well, its our reality and there isn’t much I can do about it.

I was most nervous about taking Owen to a new daycare. And the fact that he wasn’t taking a bottle or napping in a crib certainly didn’t help! I was able to take him for a few hours a few days before my actual first day and he drank a bottle and napped! The ladies were amazing, a group of them came up with many creative ways to get him settled. He now snuggles with a shirt of mine when he eats and sleeps :) They send me pictures and updates and he really seems to be doing well, so far anyway. Such a relief.

I had a pep talk with the kids the night before my first day. Explained I was going to be working again so we all needed to work as a team again. The next morning I headed up to get dressed and Emmy had laid out outfit options for me – shoes, necklaces and all! She really is the best.

We certainly are going to have good days/week and bad ones but so far we are back to our well oiled machine!

Lots of pics from his first week and first bottles

My outfit selections from my sweet Emery Jean

Owen got extra snuggles from everyone

Sadie is TWO!

Sadie is 2! Or in dog years, 14. Either way, she misbehaves just like a toddler or a pre-teen depending on which way you look at it. Her energy level is through the roof, she doesn’t listen to a word we say, but follows are every lead because she thinks she is a human child. She drives us nuts but is the sweetest dog you can imagine! There is never a dull moment in our house with her around but I can’t imagine it any other way.

We were up in Groveland on her bday so they threw a birthday party for her. Ahahahah.

Sadie won't leave Owen alone. She licks him all the time, steals his toys and drops her in his lap. Not sure what we are going to do with these two....

Owen opens his mouth when she comes close so he gets tongue in his mouth a few times a day. We are always yelling "close your mouth!"

Oh Sadie, what are we going to do with you....

Weekend in Pine Mountain Lake

The last month has been a very stressful time for Josh and his family. His grandma Donna was diagnosed with brain cancer in June and sadly passed away a few weeks ago. She was an awesome lady who was clearly loved by all! We were lucky enough to be able to fly up north to spent time with his whole family and hear many wonderful stories about Donna, see some amazing pictures and spent time with everyone.

All 3 kids were amazing travelers making the trip so successful I think we will even do it again! :) Owen smiled at EVERYONE and was comfortable in anyone's arms. Owen fell in love with my sister-n-law Amy and cousin-n-law Brittany! They were beyond helpful I kept saying I needed them to move to SD with us :) The older kids had a BLAST with all of their cousins, it was so fun to watch. They are very lucky to have such a big family who love to have fun. It was unfortunate circumstances that brought us all together but Donna would have loved seeing all of the love she had created.

I, of course, took a million pictures!

Here we go!

Of all the toys I had strategically packed this was the most entertaining.

It feels a bit like planes trains and automobiles getting up to Groveland since we fly and then drive 2.5 hours but everyone was great!

Craig hooked us up with a house on the lake and it was PERFECT! The neighbor even had a tire swing and stuff to play on.

This guy had so much love last weekend and I like to think he brought a lot of joy too!

Kailyn reminded me so much of Emmy, like two peas in a pod. She even threw up the peace sign just like Emmy does for every pic. Haha

Owen has found his feet and never lets them go!

Happy Baby!

 He loved Grandpa :)

Pine Mountain Lake was closed the whole weekend because of a sewage spill. BUMMER! So we found a pool to swim in to cool off it was 100 degrees all weekend!

O-Man LOVED the water

This picture makes me laugh so hard!

The boys had lots of iPad time together

It was Amy's birthday on Saturday so Zach baked her a cake. Happy Birthday Amy!

Emmy and Amy who she calls "Ant" which earned her the nickname "beetle"

Owen was finally able to meet Genesis!

Skipping rocks

Sleeping like a king in the bed. I actually got him to sleep longer than 30 minutes!

These two sure love each other

Hanging with Grandma and Grandpa :)

Owen was constant entertainment for everyone

I really need to start taking pictures of some adults during our trips! At least Amy snapped these few :)

Our last night Emmy and Ryan hopped on the boat with all the adults while we packed.

Until next time...
