Happy Birthday Emmy!

Monkey is 3! Can you believe it?! We are celebrating by having pancakes for breakfast (one of her favorites) heading to the library for a school field trip (I am volunteering to drive and hang out – I can’t want to see her with all her buddies!) opening presents and then driving to Disneyland to spend a few days at the happiest place on earth!

I had no idea just how much Emmy would change my life when she was born. She is the most amazingly happy, friendly, fun, smart, funny, caring, beautiful little girl. Everything I do is so much more fun because of her. Being able to live life through her eyes is the greatest gift ever. Watching her face light up when she experiences something new, check herself out in the mirror when she has carefully selected her new outfit, dance around the room with no inhibitions, listening to her sing at the top of her lungs or blurt out new phrases like “You are kidding me?!” or “what are you talking about guys?”, or how excited she gets to do simple things like wash dishes or help fold laundry makes having her around fun all the time. She is so caring when someone is hurt or sad and snuggles up as if she can’t get close enough to you, but is also so funny and silly you can’t help but smile and laugh. I love her so much, she is my little monkey. Other than “I love you” the best thing she has said to me lately is “Mommy you are my best friend”. And she is mine too, forever :) She even paints my finger nails, brushes my hair and tells me when she thinks my outfit is ugly. Sigh… the sign of a true best friend.

You Can't Always Get What You Want

Recently when Emmy whines for something Josh sings "You can't always get what you want". At first I think she was surprised by our reaction so she'd stop asking. Then she learned the song and sang along. Finally, the other day I told her I needed to take a shower and she said "Mommy, you can't always get what you want!"

3 Day Weekend

Nothing is better than a 3-day weekend! I swear, if I could work one less day and have a full 3 days at home, I would be a different person...

Josh and Emmy headed to Sea World on Saturday. This is the first time they went without me and it sounded like they had a blast. Emmy came home with a giant, pink shamu!

She doesn't leave the house without her pink cowboy boots on.

In lieu of a b-day party this year, we are taking Emmy to Disneyland on Friday! But we did have a few friends over for pizza for a pre-birthday celebration.

We got all dressed up to bake her cake. Yes, we have matching aprons :)

Emmy's bestest buddies Finn and Ava came over and they all had a blast! She is such a lucky girk to have such fun little friends.

Emmy got to hold baby Sophia and was so nice and gentle, she was so sweet.

Our Little Dancer

All Emmy wants to do these days is dance! Pretty much every night after dinner we turn the music on and she does her thing. As you can see, she also picks out her costume for each evening. So cute!

Somersault!

Life is Good

Another beautiful weekend in San Diego! One of those weekends that make you stop and feel so lucky to live here.

Saturday Emmy and I met an old friend in Seaport Village for lunch. Can't believe we don't head over there more often, it was so much fun! Emmy rode the carousel, hung out with little Rylinn and even got to climb in a fire truck!

We found a hammock to swing in for a while. We hung out here:

And looked out at this:

Josh and I actually got a sitter and went to dinner! We headed over to Coronado. The view of downtown from the bridge.

Anna, Mark, Ava came over to watch the super bowl. The girls had fun dancing and watching Madonna.
