Fall 2023

We've had a busy start to the school year and Fall season! Whoever coined the phrase the days are long
, but the years are short was unbelievably wise. Boy, do the weeks, months and years fly by!

Josh had been working his butt off in a new role at work. He had to quickly adapt to a day full of Zoom calls, but we are lucky to still eat lunch together most days. I still love working every day in my sweatpants and don't think I could ever go back to an office. Especially with how busy the kids are and how many practices they have. This week, all 3 had a practice that started at the same time! Despite it all, we've actually been able to squeeze in some family time and date nights!

Nikki's 50th 80s prom bday party

Michelle even busted out her roller skates!

Josh's bday dinner at Benihana!

This sums up everyone perfectly right now

A rare family beach day!

Brubaker's annual Halloween party.

Annual pumpkin carving at the Prestons. Even Emmy joined us!

Emmy and her BFFs joined us early Halloween night and then went to their own Halloween party

We almost made it 15 years without losing a kid on Halloween. I mean, technically we knew who he was with, but he had no clue, was just running with a group. Lots of lessons learned this year. But we found each other and reunited at the famous pirate ship in UC

The after math of candy sorting

Ryan and Owen have both been playing baseball at Tecolote. This is the first season for Owen, and it has been INTENSE! These 6, 7 and 8-year-olds are incredible baseball players but the parents are a bit intense for my liking. He started off timid, batting last in the lineup and right field and has moved up to the infield and gets a hit every time at bat! Its been super fun to see. He is also playing soccer on the big field, which was challenging so it took a good few games to get his grove and start scoring goals :) He isn't a fan of going to school but gets 100% on every math test so I think he is bored. And wise beyond his years, considering his closest friends are 2 years older.

First day of 1st grade!

His buddy Rowen is in 3rd grade, but the class above him

Owen has been really into Legos lately. He will sit on the couch for hours building boats

Let's go Sea Dogs, Tecolote Pinot division!

Always READY!

Our annual trip to the pumpkin patch with Emmy's gymnastics team

Trick or treat at school. Him and Kyle (also in 3rd grade) had the same costume and they are still young enough to think that is cool :)

Look he found friends his own age. Haha

First goal of the season!

He was selected superstar for respect :)

Ryan is really loving playing on his new club basketball team. They lose most games, but he still has fun and loves it! He gets to play with all his friends and has met some new ones too. Baseball has take a bit of a backseat compared to baseball, which is interesting because he is killing it pitching this season! Zero practice and he's throwing like I've never seen before. He is doing great in middle school, has lots of friends and is getting really good grades. He is the most organized and conscientious when it comes to school and homework! There is an organized lunch for 6th graders and their parents next week, and he doesn't want me to go. Sniff, sniff. And he spends most of his time playing Fortnite with his friends virtually. They all talk to each other while they play it is both the coolest and most annoying thing ever!

First day of 6th grade!

He is such a hugger and she hates it

All his "bros"

Watching him pitch is one of my life's joys. It is my favorite part of the weekend. He is so calm and collected, confident and powerful.

He has a great team this season!

Emmy is killing it at middle school. Long story but after much debate, we got her an ebike this past summer, and it has really instilled a new sense of responsibility in her. Emmy and her friends ride to the beach, to get ice cream and made it all the way to Encinitas using an app that shows routes with bike lanes. She has a 4.2 PGA, just got 100% on her advanced math test and was accepted into a 4-year biomedical program. She is a complete mess but is crazy smart. I call her my mad scientist. She went to her first homecoming dance with a big group and has a solid group of friends and could care less about the gossip and bullshit. She is still very committed to gymnastics and is working on some seriously big skills for this upcoming season!

First day of 9th grade!

Heading to school one morning

A friend sent me this pic. The crew, there are kids on bikes everywhere!

Homecoming (or HOCO as they now call it) 2023, and she could not have looked more beautiful!

The Spreckels 4 friendship still going strong

Lots of activity and fun going on in the Lawrence house. My goal is to post about it more often!
