Favorite Week of the Year!

Every year Baldwin closes the last week of August which means I take the whole week off of work! This is my favorite week of the year!  This year we decided to head up to Huntington Beach for a few days before Emmy starts school.  We had a blast!  We swam, hung on the beach, ate a lot of ice cream and most importantly didn't have to be anywhere at a certain time :)

Yes, we only stayed for 3 nights :)

Checking out the view!

Just like at home...

Going with Daddy to get us some breakfast.

This kid sure knows how to relax!

Ryan loves the water!  Next summer we have to get him into lessons.

This is what we saw of Emmy - her feet while she did hand stands in the water for 8 hours a day.  Brought back memories of when I used to do the same thing :)

I love this picture

My little beach bum

The waves were huge! It was awesome to watch.

Emmy wasn't allowed to go in the second day

Sunset from our room.

I think Ryan's favorite part of the vacation was the bike ride :)

Room service!

Sleeping like a king

Emmy's Last Day at Baldwin Academy

Emmy's last day at Baldwin was very bitter sweet.  She has gone to this school since she was 12 weeks old.  The teachers, her classmates, etc., are her family and are our family. I didn't realize what a big part of our lives they all are until now.  She is parting ways with all her friends, which means we are parting ways with everyone we see daily and spend every birthday party with.  Emmy technically had two last days...  Her camp ended so she went to school for the last day and geared up to go to a YMCA camp for a week with 3 of her best friends.  Well, YMCA camp was terrible, she made it 3 days, the director of Baldwin is amazing, and she ended up spending 3 more days at the place she is most comfortable.  So she had two last days :) Thank goodness Ryan is still there so we won't be leaving completely but for Emmy is it very bitter sweet.  I am sad for her and that she won't see her best friends every day but I am excited for her new adventures ahead!

Ryan's Birthday - Part 2

I can't believe my little guy is two.  It seems like just yesterday I was sitting in the dark, rocking him in his room, with the blow dryer on while he screamed for hours.  Or when I walked aimlessly for hours with the blow dryer app on in the stroller while I tried to keep him asleep. Boy have things changed! He is the happiest, funniest, cutest little guy!  He is the sweetest, most gentlest snuggler who i hope never changes.  I can't list the words he is saying now because he says so many and pretty much repeats everything we say.  At two Ryan:
- Has all his teeth, including two of his molars
- Has started peeing on his Elmo seat!
- Loves the idea of brushing his teeth but hates actually opening his mouth
- Loves wearing his hat and "flip flops"
- Can count to 12 and sing the entire abcs!
- Eats a "yoyurt" every morning as soon as we come down stairs
- Absolutely idolizes Emmy.  He loves her so much
- Is obsessed with dogs.  Whenever we see one he says "touch dog" but he doesn't quite understand that they all don't want to be kissed.  On the mouth.
- he LOVES fire trucks.  Calls anything with a siren "wee-o-wees"
- Loves hitting balls with his bat (and he is really good, even when we throw it to him!)
- Asks to go to the beach every day
- Is now opening the freezer and helping himself to ice cream cones and popsicles. Ugh
- Has started watching Barney.  Oh man, thought we were past that one.
- Loves to draw, especially with markers (i know bad idea)
- Still comes in our bed early in the morning.  Don't judge.  He snuggles right next to me and I love it more than anything!

Monday we all took the day off to celebrate! And we headed to Lego Land (with everyone else in Southern California).  Emmy was so excited it was Ryan's birthday and Ryan kept saying "happy".  He caught on quickly that he was getting lots of presents to open. We had lots of fun at Lego Land, especially at the water park. Ryan wasn't too into the rides but totally dug the water slides.  I guess you must have to love water to be a part of this family :)

Emmy was so excited to give him the presents she wrapped!

Boat ride!

Look - NYC! Hopefully we'll get to take her there soon.

Ryan's first ride.  He wasn't a fan...

Water slide!

Only Emmy would try and swim in 5 inches of water.

I just love this face :)

Ryan has music class at school and LOVES it!  He really likes playing the guitar so we got him one :)  This afternoon he was singing the ABCs and strumming away.
