Weekend with Nana and Papa

My mom and dad came down this weekend and we had a great time!  Ryan ran around after his buddy Lucy, Josh and I actually got to go out to dinner and me, Emmy and my mom went to Disney on Ice!  We had lots of fun.

School

Emmy is having an amazing school year.  I am so happy she was able to get into her pre-K class.  There are only 8 kids in her class, her teacher is great and they are learning so much it is crazy!  She has gone to school with these same kids since she was months old, they are like family!  She comes home each day with her work sheets and 2-3 days a week has homework.  She is reading, writing, learning addition and subtraction, fractions, etc.  She can read about 50 different words, is learning a lot of Spanish, how to count money, read time from a clock count to 100 in 5s and 10s, knows both mine and Josh’s phone numbers by heart and her drawings are amazing!  They take field trips almost weekly, cook together weekly, have a music class, science experiments, have visitors from the community come into their class room and she is learning all about the environment.  A few weeks ago she told me we should really buy an electric car because our car uses gas that goes into the environment and makes the earth hot.  What?!  She also told me that when someone says something and you didn’t hear them the polite thing to say is pardon me?  We no longer can spell out words like the park because she can sound them out.  Damn.  She is having so much fun, I just love seeing her so happy.

Gotta love the cheesy backdrop and props!

4 day weekend!

We had the best 4 day weekend ever.  I swear I'd be a completely different person if I had more than 48 hours a week to do what I need and want to do.  Never giving up my hopes of a part time schedule....  Anyway, we had a great weekend!   I took Friday off of work so I could go on Emmy's school trip to the aquarium.  Then I convinced her to play hookie with me the rest of the afternoon.  We went to lunch, the park and to got ice cream all before we picked up Ryan!  Saturday we went to a dinosaur show that was in town for the weekend then to friends for dinner.  Sunday was hair cuts and Monday we went to Sea World!  I had to much fun with the kids, it was the best :)

Just some pics

We've been busy and we've been sick.  Nothing too exciting to report so here are some pics from the past few weeks!
I took these on New Years Day.  What a way to start the new year!

I didn't know she was making that face until we got home.  What a goof.

The night before...  East Coast New Years at Van's house!

And why did we buy Christmas presents?!

Last weekend me and the kids went to the zoo.  I figured it would be easier than running around after them while in the corner of my eye Josh was watching 8 hours of football!   We had so much fun :)

Yup, ice cream for lunch!

Our little gymnast

There has been a whole lot of gymnastics going on in hour house.  Today Ryan dressed up for the occasion as well :)

Christmas 2014 - Part 2

Due to some technical difficulties, I have not been able to post any pictures from the second part of our Christmas!
We headed up north the day after Christmas and stayed in beautiful Bakersfield for the night.  The kids were so good the whole drive, I was really surprised.  It was partly due to the DVD played Josh bought for the car.  For some reason I've always been against watching TV in the car until you are driving for hours in the middle of nowhere.   It certainly came in handy :)  We spent time with Josh's parents, saw a lot of family, ate a ton of food and drank a whole lot of wine.  It was an awesome trip! Emmy and Ryan met and were reacquired with a lot of cousins and not everyone was there!  They are so lucky to be part of such a wonderful, big family.  Hopefully we can see everyone again soon!

I took a ton of pictures so had to post them all.  Josh's cousin Genesis likes to take as many pictures as I do and she is a great photographer so I can't take credit for them all!

On the road...

in the middle of nowhere!

 Presents, presents and more presents!

Yes, that is an accordion to accompany the Christmas Carols!

Some of the cousins who all look alike

And this is why!  Josh's mom's sister, who is only a few years younger, married his dad's twin brother.  So the sisters married brothers and all their kids look like brother and sisters!

Ryan's buddy House.  He threw the ball against the door over and over while the poor dog tried to catch it.  I thought it was mean until we figured out the dog preferred to try and catch it threw the door than have someone actually throw it to him!
