Emmy and I went to Disney on Ice today. It was all princesses we couldn't not go :)
On the way home I got a flat tire. If it is not one thing it is another! Fortunately, I got it ony a few blocks from the house so we just walked home. Emmy didn't feel like wearing her Cinderella dress anymore so she walked home with no pants on :)

What a week!
I have been down and out with a cold all week. Actually had 2 days at home alone and I couldn't even get out of bed. Dragged myself to the doctor and turns out I have a sinus infection and bronchitis. To top it all off I woke up this morning with pink eye! Nothing like crusty eyes in the morning while changing an explosion of a diaper. Emmy got pink eye from school and gave it to me. So I have spent the whole day washing every pillow and case, sheets, blankets and disinfecting every handle, light switch, etc. Ugh.
On a brighter note Ryan cut his second tooth this week! And another one is coming! I guess it is a good thing he is getting teeth early I have a feeling he is going to want to eat lots of food soon! He has turned into such a happy mellow baby who LOVES to snuggle :) Just hand him his blankie and he pops his thumb in his mouth and lays his head on your shoulder. So sweet. Just like his sister did :)

This Weekend
Was the BEST! It was beautiful and warm all weekend and I had FOUR
DAYS OFF! During the month of January I am only working 4 days a week
:) I offered to continue to do my exact job in 4 days and take a pay
cut but they only approved a 4 day work week for 30 days. Surprising I
know. My quest to figure out how to work less hours continues...
Anyway, back to our weekend. We hung out and relaxed, we cleaned the house, we wrestled, we took a beautiful hike, we painted pictures, we hung out at Mark and Anna's and we ate lots as always. Here are a whole lot of pics.
We are on the orange veggies. So far he has gobbled up homemade carrots, sweet potatoes and butternut squash!
Don't mind my greasy, balding hair. I don't remember loosing this much hair after I had Emmy but she also slept maybe that had something to do with it?!
Emmy and Ava literally hid when it was time to leave. Took 10 minutes to find them in the garage!
Trying to put my little man in some of his cute clothes before he grows out of them! Yup, this is a tight 6-12 month onesie :)

First time trying out the double stroller :)
Beautiful day at the Cabrillo Monument!
Ryan ADORES Emmy

He just keeps getting more and more handsome :)

Today was a good day
Today was the first day I came home from work and Ryan wasn't a complete mess, he was happy! :) He ate breakfast, lunch and two 7 oz bottles at daycare today and was a happy camper. He even napped for an hour! Wow. His teachers think he was just really hungry! It was such a relief to see that he can have some good days at daycare and we can still all enjoy our evenings together. Last week was really hard to see him so upset at the end of the day, today gave me just a little bit of hope.

I miss my old life
Giving birth to Ryan and spending that last 5 months at home with him was the best time ever. It was enough time I could actually pretend I like I didn't have to work. There are so many things I miss about being home, about my old life...
I miss staying in my jammies until noon. Or lets face it all day if I wanted to.
I miss nursing Ryan to sleep and letting him sleep in my lap. Or moving him so I could lay next to him.
I miss taking walks everyday and watching Ryan just stare at my until he fell asleep.
I miss picking Emmy up early from school, even if most days so was pissed that I interrupted her outside play time.
I even miss the sound of the blow dryer.
I miss picking up the house, doing dishes and the laundry. I especially miss these chores when I carried Ryan around in his carrier while I did them.
I miss saying hello to our super nice mailman everyday.
I miss feeling Ryan stare at me when I was doing the dishes or cooking.
I miss watching my new favorite channel - HGTV. I am still convinced we can buy a fixer uper and remodel it ourselves.
I miss dancing around the house with Ryan listening to Pandora.
I miss being able to volunteer for Emmy's schools field trips.
I miss talking to my family during the day. Now our conversations are 5-10 minutes long as I drive to or from work.
I miss eating toast and peanut butter everyday for lunch.
I miss running errands with Ryan and wondering around Clairemont Square.
I miss not having to dread going to work the next day, especially when I am up all night and Sundays.
I really just miss being at home.

5 Months and back to work
My little buddy is already 5 months old! I was lucky enough to be able to spend the day with him. We were lazy all day, it was AMAZING :)
Well, we survived my first week back at work. Barely... Ryan still refuses to sleep longer than 2 hours at a time at night or more than 30 minutes during the day. Sitting behind a desk, staring at a computer at 8am after getting a few hours of sleep in rough. Really rough. Especially when I just think about how much I miss my kids. Ryan is "happy and fussy" at daycare as they note it. The poor guy is a mess by the time I get home. I know it will take some time for all of us to adjust, hopefully it'll get easier soon.

Happy New Year!
We had a nice little quiet New Years at home this year with just the fam. Ryan is let's say a little difficult and unpredictable during the evenings these days so we decided to stick close to home. We cooked up a big dinner and ate fancy cupcakes Emmy and I went out and picked up.
Today we went on a "hike" on a trail and the bottom of the hill we live on. Can't believe we've never ventured out there. It was really pretty and Emmy had a blast! We've clearly kept her in the city too long, she's never seen so many trees. She kept yelling "Look what is coming up ahead!". It was a great way to spend New Years Day :) I feel very lucky to be starting a new year with my husband and two kids who I love more than anything in the world!
