It is official, Emmy is infatuated with my mom. She has always loved her, laughed at anything she said and did but this weekend she took it to a whole new level! She would not let my mom out of her sight. She cried if anyone other than my mom tried to pick her up - including me. We took a trip to the book store one day to get out of the house and she kept calling my mom's name making sure she was close by. Mom my took her looking for bunnies in the backyard and Emmy followed her screaming "where are you?!" it was the cutest thing ever. She has become quite attached, I was afraid she was going to burst into tears when we got in the car to drive home. Mom, all joking aside, watching how much she loves you is the greatest thing in the world. She has already learned why I love you so much...
It started as a joke....
until she wouldn't take them off!

Weekend Update #1
My brother is moving to the big apple this week so we headed up to my parents to spend some time with him before he moves to the east coast. I am so excited for him and all the adventures that are to come. His photography career has really taken off, he is very talented. I know this is probably just the beginning of many stories and successes to come. Selfishly, I am sad, I am really going to miss him not living a few hours away. I can't believe I am no longer going to have any siblings living in the state. I guess we'll be planning some trips soon! What better places to visit, New York City and Chicago?!
It was 80 degrees and sunny all weekend, unlike the June gloom we've had in SD. So, we took advantage...
My parents bought Emmy a stroller and new baby doll. Her new FAVORITE thing is playing with her "bebe"!
She loved swimming in the pool!
Never say never.... I don't mean to offend anyone but I think crocs are the ugliest shoes ever. I vowed to never have Emmy wear them. Well, now that it is summer I quickly learned why so many kids wear them. She is not quite steady enough to wear flip flops around the pool or beach but she can't wear running shoes. So... I went out and bought her some crocs and yes they are oh so practical. Only until she can walk properly in flip flops!
She looks cute in ANYTHING!

I am going to miss you brother but wish you all the luck in the big move!

Name
Emmy started saying her name this weekend and it was the cutest thing I have ever seen or heard. She kept saying "mama" and "dada" so I asked her what her name what and she said "Emmy". Seeing as we call her Emery, Emmy and monkey I wasn't sure what she thought her name was! Her name has never sounded so beautiful or more perfect!
Happy Fathers Day!
We had the best day yesterday. It was a beautiful, sunny, San Diego summer day so we headed down to the beach. Emmy is fearless in the water. She kept wanting to run towards the waves, I have never seen Josh so happy :) After her 3 hour nap (can you believe she slept that long?!) we decided to see if she liked the sprinkler too. Well, of course she did. We could barely get her away from it ever after she started shivery. We sure are going to have a fun summer!

Kid Ventures
I took Emmy to the greatest place, Kid Ventures. It is a play area for kids of all ages that also has a coffee and snack bar for parents. Each room has a different theme and is decorating with all the toys imaginable. There is a grocery store stocked full of carts, baskets, fake fruits and veggies, etc. A kitchen with a fridge, oven, BBQ, baking utensils, etc. You get the picture. There is a library, firehouse/engine, castle and fake pirate ship. Each room had dress up clothes too! One of Emmy's favorite rooms was the baby room that had probably 6 babies, strollers, changing tables, cribs, you name it. She was beside herself with all the babies and pushed one around in the stroller everywhere we went. The best was the 70s disco room! It played great 70s music and had a disco ball and mirrors on every wall. It was too cute to watch her dance around the room. Fortunately, I got a great video of our future star :)

Sunscreen
We must be super parents or something because we have somehow convinced Emmy to actually enjoy doing 2 things most kids hate - wearing hats and putting on sunscreen. She has to wear a hat everywhere we go, she'll say "ha" and look around for one to put on. It is an ongoing joke at daycare that I drop her off every morning wearing one. Now she loves sunscreen! She watched Josh and I put it on before we went to the beach one day and now she gets excited to put it on! She pretends to rub her arms when she sees it or even wants to go outside. The other night I decided she deserved some dessert so asked if she wanted some "ice cream". She ran over to the cupboard where we keep the sunscreen and started rubbing her arms because she thought I was saying sunscreen!
Practive what I Preach
I have decided to test out my knowledge of social networking and self promotion, something I discuss with clients and industry peers all the time, and create a new blog geared more towards the general public than my close friends and family. A blog that contains more of my thoughts and opinions as opposed to updates on Emmy and our daily lives. Oh yeah and I am accepting advertising on the site so there is an ulterior motive.... Me and a million others, right?! Yes, I have had some difficulty lately keeping up on this blog so we'll see how a second one goes. I had to promise my mom that I'd still update this with pictures and stories of Emmy but you are also invited to check out my new one. It is definitely a work in progress so I am also open to any feedback. Enjoy!

Updates
I have been terrible about updating the blog lately. We've just been so busy it has been hard to find time. Let's see, what have we been up to....
Emmy met her new buddy little miss Olivia Jean Kerr last week, she was so cute! Emmy was beside herself being next to a real live baby. She kept saying "bebe" over and over again and tried to touch and kiss her. She even stuck one of her stickers right on Olivia's forehead! She is going to be a good big sister one day. Stressing the ONE DAY, not hinting anything!
Yes, we had more family visit, Josh's parents came into town last week. We didn't do much, just hung out and played with our silly monkey. She still LOVES guacamole. We even let her dip her own chips, what a little pig pen!
We were at Toysrus picking up yet another car seat (this is where it sucks that Josh and I share dropping and picking up Emmy, we've had to purchase multiple car seats) and we decided our little artist needed her own easel! It is still a little tall but the kid just loves her crayons. It is seriously all she wants to do these days....

Vacation
Wow, was it nice to have a few days away to relax, sleep in and eat a normal meal without someone yelling that they want every bite you take! Josh and I had a great few days away in Palm Springs despite the 104 degree weather. We spent pretty much the whole time at the pool, in the water, drinking beers, trying to stay cool. It was glorious. Boy did we miss monkey. Everytime we saw a little kid swimming in the pool my heart missed her more. From the sounds of it she had a great time with Nannie and Auntie Julie. You could tell by the way she clung to them when we got home. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous! When spent Saturday night with my parents, sister and brother and had lots of laughs. My brother is moving to NY in less than a month so these get togethers are going to be more rare. Of course we are all very excited for Marc but selfishly I am sad because now both my siblings will be across the country.
Wow, just the 2 of us. What was that like again?

The Big 3-0
Today is my 30th b-day. Thank you to all for your b-day wishes! We are heading to Palm Springs tomorrow for a few nights away - without Emmy! We have never left her before so of course I am a little apprehensive but am looking forward to some time away with my wonderful hubby. Sun, food and cocktails, ahhh sounds glorious. The whole fam damily is coming down to stay with her so I know she will be in the best hands.
It is funny, everyone asks how it feels to turn 30 as if it is so old. I am excited to be 30 and welcome a new decade. I am married to a wonderful husband and have the most beautiful daughter in the world. I have accomplished a lot in my 20s and am proud to be hitting my 30s. Here's to the next decade being as great as the last. Cheers!
