Word of the Week

This week Emmy started saying "snack" well more like "nack". The kid eats a lot and often so she gets really excited at the sound of eating anything. It amazes me how much she is saying these days. I know being around the older kids at daycare must have a lot to do with it. I wanted to write down all she is saying so one day we can look back and remember. Of course a lot of what she says is more sounds than the word but it is very clear what she is trying to say! I have a feeling she understands a whole lot more so we're going to need to start watching what we are sayin!

Mama and Dada
Hi, Bye bye
No, don't
yes, yay
Whoa
ah-oh
Duck
Animal sounds - Moo, baaa, neigh, roar, bock bock (like a chicken)
Snack
Bath
Ball
Belly Button
water (wa, wa)
blanket (ba, ba)
Big Bird
Bubbles
Book
Dog
Night, night
"Dat" (that)

Busy, busy, busy!

Things sure have been busy around the Lawrence house. Last week was another crazy busy work week but I finished the week with a great dinner with my wonderful husband to celebrate our anniversary. Can you believe we've been married 4 years?! Time sure flies. It was perfect, Emmy was asleep by 7pm and the sitter arrived at 7:30 so she never knew we were gone :)

Saturday morning we went to Sesame Street Live!!! I don't know who was more excited me or Emmy! I got tickets through work and they were great seats. Emmy was just as excited as I hoped she would be. Blowing kisses, clapping and dancing along. We didn't quite make it to the end but she was really good. It was hard to take pictures because first cameras we not permitted and second, it was pitch dark. Of course we tried to get a few. That afternoon we went to Roman's 1st b-day party so it was a busy day. I was EXHAUSTED. So, today we just laid low.

Now time to tackle another week.....

Ready to see Big Bird and Elmo!

Her new buddy

This is pretty much what we see of our little girl these days. She is running EVERYWHERE!

The Big Spider Went up the Water Spout

Clearly Emmy prefers Julie's modified version :)

Busy Weekend

Our busy week ended with a busy weekend, but we had lots of fun. Josh's aunt and uncle came to stay with us before their cruise to Mexico. We hung out, had lots of laughs and took Emmy to her first baseball game! She was so good, we stayed until the 8th inning. We kept her occupied with food, a big glass of cold lemonade and lots of dancing to the music. It didn't hurt that the seats Josh got us were in the 4th row behind the first base line.

New tent and tube from Grandma and Grandpa!

Take me out to the ballgame!

Dancing Queen

What a week.....

This week has been one of those weeks when I sit back and think, I couldn't possibly have done all that. Well, I did, I survived and you bet I am going to celebrate with a BIG glass of wine.

Not to bore anyone with work talk but I was given 48 hours to put together a preliminary media plan for the San Diego Chargers in San Diego, Orange County, Riverside and LA. My colleague and I worked frantically to pull it together these past few days, staying late every night to get it done. We were so stressed about getting it done we didn't realize the magnitude of what we were doing until this morning....

Our meeting was scheduled for 8:45am at the Chargers Park. For those mom's out there, you understand just how challenging the mornings are with a 14 month old. I had to get ready and actually look presentable (I wore a dress so legs shaved and hair blown dry), drop Emmy off at Daycare and be at the meeting by 8:45am. I was so nervous about being late that I was up by 5:30am, showered, hair done, make-up on by 6:30am. Poor Emmy woke up, I nursed her (yes, I am STILL nursing her at night and in the morning) fed her breakfast, got her dressed and we were out the door by 7:45am. I threw a hat on her head because I knew that always makes her happy :) Half an hour later I was sitting outside the building, 30 minutes early. Better early than late, right?!

So far in my career I have worked with small clients and advertisers but sitting in the parking lot it finally hit me. I was about to present my ideas to the CMO/VP and the team owner's son and 45 minutes ago I was changing a poopy diaper. How crazy is that?! I get pretty pumped for big meetings but I really needed to put my game face on for this one. They were really receptive to some of the innovative ideas we had which is exciting. Hopefully we'll get approval to move forward because I'd be involved in some pretty cool elements. On our way out of the meeting we passed by the owner of the team and Norv Turner. Pretty cool. The next few weeks are probably going to be nuts but at least it isn't like this all the time. Remind me that again next week.....

Reading the above does not quite explain just how CRAZY this week has been but I have to say I am proud that I made it through. Thank goodness I have the best husband in the world who got dinners ready and even had a bouquet of flowers waiting for me yesterday.

It is picture day at Emmy's daycare tomorrow morning and then Josh's aunt and uncle are coming into town this weekend. Little miss Emery will be attending her first baseball game Sunday, pictures to come! I am looking forward to some quality time with my monkey, I sure have missed her this week.

I need more time

I need more time in a day to get my work done so I can leave the office before 5:30p and don't have to work at home until 9:30p at night. I need more time so that I can clean the bathrooms that have been staring me in the face for the past week. I need more time so I can take my car in to get the check engine light looked at since it has been lit up for 2 weeks. I need more time so I can catch up with friends that I have neglected to call for too long. I need more time so I can go to a yoga class and find that inner peace I was able to maintain for so many years. I need more time to be able to do the fun things I want to do with Emmy, like take her to swim lessons. I have been talking about signing her up for weeks but have not had a chance. I need more time with my husband so maybe we could spend a few moments alone without any distractions. I have a feeling this will be the story of my life for many years to come, especially as our family grow. So get used to it right? Well, I guess I just wasted 10 minutes writing this but sometimes it feels good to get it off your chest :)

Pics of the Week

PIGTAILS!!!

Aren't these the cutest little pigtails you have ever seen?! She looks like such a big girl!

Out Little Monkey - just chillin eating a banana

Finn+Emmy+a drawer full of tupperware = trouble
(Check out both of their shoes, are the cool or what?!)

Hat

Yesterday I brought in a hat to daycare that I could leave there so Emmy would always have one to wear when she is outside. It is kinda small and pretty ugly (sorry mom, I think you gave it to her...) so that way i don't care if she looses it. After Josh picked her up he took a picture of her with his phone and sent it to me. When I asked him why she was still wearing the hat he explained all the teachers were praising her for wearing it outside because none of the other kids will wear their hats. Apparently, she also refused to take it off once she got inside, Josh said she was playing with all the other kids wearing her small, ugly hat. I guess we shouldn't be surprised!

Happy Easter!

We had the best day today, weekend actually. We took my Dad to brunch and an Easter Egg Hunt this morning. Emmy could not have been better while we were eating. We took laps around the buffet for 1 1/2 hours while she ate blueberries and asparagus, without dropping one. She was so good, just taking it all in. The highlight of the morning was when the Easter Bunny arrived. I am sure she peed her pants, she was so excited. Every time he walked by she freaked out. When we got to the hunt she followed him around everywhere, I am sure she is in everyone's pictures! We had such a great weekend with my Dad, I think Emmy misses him already...

Jewelry - check, purse - check, I am ready to go!

She spotted the Easter Bunny... Pictures cannot display just how excited she was, it was the cutest thing I have ever seen.

Ice cream for desert! She is now starting to use a fork and spoon and is doing a pretty damn good job. She also uses her left hand. Apparently, she inherited all of my recessive traits - blue eyes, blond hair and left handed!

Trying to give the Easter Bunny a kiss

Day at the Beach

Last night my Dad drove down to hang out with us for the weekend while my Mom spends Easter with my sister. He brought Emmy many little surprises but the best was a mini table and chairs! Apparently, we used them growing up by I don't remember. She loves sitting in mini chairs and now she also has her own table!

We headed down to the beach this morning. We have never really let Emmy play in the sand so we decided today was the day. I was a little nervous considering she ate a handful of dirt of of our plant yesterday and licked the sand at the park. But as my dad said every kid eats a pound of dirt by the time they are 5. We only had one minor incident when she tired to eat it off her hand but other than that she just threw it around.

Off to Easter brunch in the morning, more pics to come!

Ring, ring - hello

Oh no, Emmy has figured out how the phone works. Well, she holds it more towards the back of her head but pretends to dial and tries to put it to her ear. We've been "answering it" and handing it over and vice versa. I wonder where she learned that from....? Her mom is guilty of spending a lot of time on the phone :)
